Ground & Water

An assessment has been undertaken to determine the potential impact of the development on local hydrological conditions and private water supplies. This involved consultation with Torridge District Council and the Environment Agency, along with desk studies of geological data from British Geological Survey.

During construction, preventative measures will be taken to reduce the possibility of sediment entering watercourses and groundwater. These include interceptor drains, silt traps and balancing ponds, best practice measures and construction method statement. The layout of the windfarm has also been designed in such a way that turbines and associated infrastructure are not located within fifty metres of watercourses.

Following adoption of the proposed mitigation measures, the proposed windfarm development at Dunsland Cross has been assessed as having the potential to result in effects of a minor significance or less.
